LDAP PHP Change Password Page

Here is my quick page to allow users to change their own passwords.  To use this page, the LDAP server should to be local (as I am not connecting via SSL) and the page should to be on a secure site (https://).

  1. Thank’s for the code, that’s very useful for me and it’s work for me. sorry if my english is not very good. Thank’s a lot.

  2. Just wanted to point out that I noticed the new password is being stored in clear text in ldap. You have:

    $encoded_newPassword = "{SHA}" . base64_encode( pack( "H*", sha1( $newPassword ) ) );

    But when you write to the ldap directory you do this:

    $entry["userPassword"] = "$newPassword";

    Most likely this was meant:

    $entry["userPassword"] = "$encoded_newPassword";

    I also added a salt to the routine that encodes the new pass.

    Thanks again for posting this, it saved me a ton of work.

  3. Saves me the trouble of coding my own; thanks so much! BTW, you might want to check your output. There are numerous inconsistencies with capitalization and multiple exclamation points looks a bit unpolished.

  4. Hi, i have two issues. 1. It doesn’t let non-admin change their password even though in Mac Os X Lion Server the option “let user change password” is actif.

    So I tried with an admin account. The password did not change but the form said it was changed and even received the mail.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Zakaria

    • My guess or gut is that the encryption protocol your server is expecting is different then what php’s base64_encode function is creating. This setup is currently working with an openldap server with near default settings.
